AND NOW IT'S TURNING INTO A PROPOSAL THAT COULD BE PRESENTED AS EARLY AS AUGUST. >> I KNOW MOM LAST YEAR I HAD AN ABORTION THAT SAVED MY LIFE OVER THE PAST YEAR, THE ALUM SHARED THEIR JOURNEY PUBLICLY GROWING UP CULTURALLY. >> THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT WE WOULDN'T DISCUSS IN YOU KNOW, THAT. IT WAS SOMETHING JUST THAT WOULD BE KEPT BETWEEN HUSBAND AND WIFE IN 2021. THE COUPLE WAS EXCITED TO WELCOME THEIR FIRST CHILD, BUT THEN THEY RECEIVED SOME DEVASTATING NEWS THAT THE PREGNANCY WAS OUTSIDE THE AND WOULD NOT BE VIABLE. WE HAVE TO GET ABORTION TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF THE REMAINING CELLS THAT WERE IN MY BODY DIDN'T CONTINUE TO GROW. >> BECAUSE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED A RUPTURE THAT COULD CAUSE INTERNAL BLEEDING. THAT COULD LEAVE TO ME NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE CHILDREN AGAIN OR 2. MY DAD AS THE DURHAM COUNTY COMMISSIONER, THE DALAI LAMA, WOULD BACK TO WORK. >> WORKING SHE SEEN THE PROTESTS AFTER THE SUPREME COURT OVERTURN ROE VERSUS WADE AND SHE GOT TO THINKING AS HE CAME UP WITH AN IDEA TO PUSH A PROPOSAL THAT WOULD ALLOW THE DURHAM COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO PERFORM ABORTIONS. SHE BELIEVES THIS IS CRITICAL BECAUSE ABORTIONS ARE LEGAL IN NORTH CAROLINA AND SHE ALSO STATES THAT THE COUNTY COULD SEE MORE PEOPLE FROM STATES WHERE ABORTIONS ARE BANNED COMING TO NORTH CAROLINA TO GET ONE AS DURHAM COUNTY. THE MOST PROGRESSIVE COUNTY IN THE DISTRICT. >> HOW ARE WE GOING TO STEP UP? BUT HOW LIKELY IS THIS IDEA OF DURHAM COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE IT EVEN IF THEY WERE SOMEHOW ABLE TO PROVE THAT IT WOULD BE A REALLY BIG UPHILL OBSTACLE BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO DO CONSTRUCTION. WE TOOK THAT QUESTION TO YOU IS THE PUBLIC POLICY PROFESSOR REBECCA CRISER. SHE SAYS NORTH CAROLINA'S MOTORCYCLE LAW PASSED IN 2013. >> HAS VERY STRONG ABORTION REGULATIONS. THE LOSS HE SAYS HE'S FILLED WITH REQUIREMENTS THAT WOULD MAKE IT DIFFICULT AND COSTLY TO START AN ABORTION CLINIC REQUIREMENTS SUCH AS STAFFING CERTAIN TYPES OF VENTILATION SYSTEMS AND EVEN CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS PLEA. Meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner, I'm tracking a front that's dropping in on our area this morning. We will end up seeing most of the rain between late morning and say late afternoon as this moves from north to south slowly across our area. I mean, even though we're looking at, you know, a decent coverage of rain here as it moves through the amounts, the totals that we actually see in the rain gauges are going to be pretty light. We're talking about less than 1/10 of an inch in most places. We'll pause it there at lunchtime and we're seeing some showers from Raleigh North through there at noon. It starts to slide southward during the afternoon. At three o'clock, we're drying out from Durham to Roxboro, but seeing some showers from Rocky Mountain to Goldsboro to Fayetteville to Southern Pines. By five o'clock, the rain is over in the triangle but continues to affect folks around Fayetteville, Clinton and Goldsboro. And by around seven o'clock, it has pushed east of our area. We take a look at Durham this morning. We're seeing mostly cloudy skies. Clouds are really starting to thicken up as that front gets closer to us, it's much warmer than it was yesterday. We're starting off with our temperatures in the fifties instead of the thirties that we saw yesterday. So these temperatures heading out are going to be anywhere from 15 to 20 degrees warmer than yesterday. So you don't need a big coat, but a jacket will feel comfortable again. Take along the umbrella too. If you're going to be out at any point today, especially late morning into the latter part of the afternoon, temperatures will be mild in the mid to upper seventies, but we'll have just a few light showers. Durham Bulls are in the middle of a home stand right now. And even though we do have some rain in the forecast, that rain will be out of here by the time we get to six o'clock in Durham, that may still be in our southern counties by that point, but it won't be in Durham any longer. Thursday and Friday as well as Saturday and Sunday. All looking nice and dry with some sunshine and game time. Temperatures in the low seventies, at least through Saturday is Saturday looking beautiful temperatures through the afternoon will be in the mid seventies under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. So looking pretty, it's a mild week, normal high 75 and that's what we're seeing through Saturday. But then we see 80 is returning for Sunday. That's not going to be a record. The record for Sunday is 90 but Monday 86 and then Tuesday, we climbed to 89 and the record is 90. So that one is definitely within the grasp. We could end up with a record high on Tuesday. It's the only wet day today. After that, we're dry and we'll see continued warming into early next week.
