BAHAMA, N.C. — Fire broke out in a wooded area near Bahama Monday afternoon, burning about 30 acres before it was contained, authorities said.

The state Forest Service plowed containment lines around the blaze and used a helicopter to douse the flames with water. The fire was expected to smolder for a few days.

Three different properties were burned, near South Lowell and Johnson Mill roads, but no structures were involved.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation Monday night.
