The Durham Convention & Visitors Bureau is the first destination marketing organization in North Carolina - and among the first 24 out of more than 1,000 in North America - to meet or exceed the new International standards and best practices in community marketing and promotion.

The rigorous accreditation process by the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program takes several months of preparation culminating in a thorough evaluation of hundreds of aspects comparing a CVB to the highest standards and best practices of destination marketing.

Accreditation standards cover a wide variety of topics including governance, finance, management, human resources, technology, visitor services, group services, sales, communications, brand management, destination development, research/market intelligence, innovation, and stakeholder relationships.

DCVB’s accreditation credential is valid for four years beginning in May 2007, with the option of renewal in May 2011.
