DURHAM, N.C. — Cocoa Cinnamon is hoping to encourage people to socialize more by turning off the Wi-Fi at one of its locations on weekends.
The coffee shop is turning off internet access Friday and Saturday starting at 6 p.m. at its West Geer Street location.

"The inside is small and we've gotten lots of thoughtful feedback of folks wanting to come and enjoy some hot chocolate, an espresso before a show and a locally made dessert but not finding room for a pair or a group," owners wrote in the company's newsletter. "After consideration, we decided to reserve these two nights for the W Geer shop to be mainly about socializing and getting off our gadgets. So many things that we love happen in the shops through the course of the week from writing, talking, business meetings, art talks, quiet time, first dates, etc...and we love all of them. These nine hours we're reserving the space to get off of gadgets."

The Wi-Fi will remain on at the Hillsborough Road location. The Lakewood location, which has more seating, has Wi-Fi all week and after 5 p.m. on weekends.
