Maggie Bryant turned 106 on Friday. She's the oldest living alumna of North Carolina Central University and holds degrees in history and library science.

DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham County Sheriff's Office was called out to a fun birthday party on Friday, but they weren't there to break it up.

This wasn't just any birthday. Ms. Maggie Bryant turned 106 years old. She's the oldest living alumna of North Carolina Central University and holds degrees in history and library science.

Bryant's big day was celebrated at her home with with appearances from Sheriff Clarence Birkhead and several deputies. Some friends, neighbors and NCCU staff members also joined in on the fun.

Ms. Maggie Bryant turned 106 years old on Friday.

Pictures showed Bryant sitting in a comfy chair with flowers and balloons while Birkhead posed for a photo at her Durham home.

Bryant worked as an English teacher and librarian.
