A bicyclist has died after getting hit by a car over the weekend, Durham police said.

Dean Hutchinson, 62, died from his injuries on Wednesday. It comes after Durham police responded Saturday night to a crash involving a car and a bike at the intersection of Anderson Street and Duke University Road.

Hutchinson was traveling south on Anderson Street when he ran the red light at University Road, police said.

According to police, a woman driving a 2010 Subaru Forester was traveling east on Duke University Road. She entered the intersection and collided with Hutchinson, police said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call 919-560-4935 extension 29449.

Hutchinson was a member of the Habitat for Humanity of Durham.

Habitat for Humanity said Hutchinson worked on the construction team, describing him as an Americorps member who loved playing with his dog, cycling and running.
