Duke nurse envies New Zealand, in lockdown with only 30 COVID cases
Duke Regional nurse Ashley Wheeler said she's had a better week but COVID-19 cases are still steady at the hospital. Her best friend, a health care worker in New Zealand, said they have reported their first cases of COVID-19 in months and have closed schools and locked down the community to get a handle on the small outbreak of 30 people.
THEY CAN'T OF ELISHA BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF AN OUTBREAK AMOUNT A LARGE CREW REQUIRED.>>> WE ARE HEARING FROM DUKE REGIONAL NURSE ASHLEY WHEELER AS SHE CONTINUES HER FIGHT ON THE FRONT LINES AGAINST COVID-19. TODAY SHE TALKS ABOUT HOW ONE OF HER FRIENDS IS HANDLING COVID-19, FROM ACROSS THE OCEAN. IT IS INSIDE YOU ONLY SEE ON WRAL. >> I AM TRIAGE TODAY. WHICH IS RARE BECAUSE I'M OFTEN PRECEPTING OR IN CHARGE. SO THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE SPENT A LOT OF TIME UP HERE IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS. AND IT'S BEEN A PRETTY GOOD DAY. EVERYTHING HERE IS BEEN MUCH THE SAME. TODAY IN PARTICULAR, I AM VERY, I'M JEALOUS OF MY BEST FRIEND LIVES IN NEW ZEALAND AND TODAY THEY HAD THEIR FIRST CASES OF COVID-19 IN THE COMMUNITY IN OVER 100 DAYS. AND THEY HAVE ISSUED A LOCKDOWN, ESSENTIALLY, WITH ONLY ESSENTIAL WORKERS AND THEY HAVE CLOSE THE SCHOOLS ON THEIR TESTING EVERYONE BECAUSE HE WENT TO FIGURE IT OUT BECAUSE IT WAS COMMUNITY TRANSMISSION. I AM SO GLAD THAT SHE IS GOING TO BE SAFE AND I'M HONESTLY JUST SO JEALOUS THAT WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING EVEN APPROACHING THAT.>> YOU CAN SEE HER VIDEO BLOGS AT WRAL.COM. THEY ARE UP TO ABOUT 30 CASES YOU SAID BUT STILL, THEY HAVEN'T HAD IT FOR 100 DAYS AND THEY BEEN ABLE TO ENJOY LIFE AS
