Drought Conditions Show Slight Improvement
Recent rains have eased drought conditions a bit across the eastern part of the state, according to a report released Thursday.

Sixty-four counties, including the Triangle area, continue to experience exceptional drought conditions, the worst of five drought stages monitored by the state Drought Management Advisory Council. Another 22 counties are in extreme drought, according to the council's latest report.
But three counties moved from the exceptional category to extreme, and six others moved from extreme to severe drought conditions.
