CARY, N.C. — Drivers in Cary say they have been forced to get new tires after nails and other debris keep getting stuck in the rubber.

Recently, Green Level Road has been a construction hub for new homes.

Saadia Ikram said it has been a headache.

"Just like two weeks ago, there were two nails in this tire and one nail in that one," she said. "After that, there was another nail in the other tire."

Ikram shared her frustrations with neighbors on Facebook. She learned others were dealing with similar situations.

"It looked like about 16 or 17, quite a lot of people responded back, saying that they either had to have all four tires replaced or tires replaced all the time, multiple nails in one tire, which is characteristic with construction," she said.

Al Robinson noticed the uptick in business at Discount Tire from increased construction

"We see it often, people come in with nails in their tires every day. Nails and screws, we do repairs for our customers every day," he said.

Ikram doesn't see business slowing down anytime soon. She says construction workers need to be held accountable.

"They should be careful about what they're transporting. It seems like, whenever they transport material, it's stuff flying out of the truck on the road," she said.
