Driver won't face charges after child hit by car in Apex

A 10-year-old girl was hit by a car while walking across the street on Friday afternoon, according to the Apex Police Department.

CARY, N.C. — A 10-year-old girl was hit by a car while walking across the street on Friday.

Officials said the girl, a student at Laurel Park Elementary School, was crossing the road by herself at 2450 Laura Duncan Road around 3:45 p.m.

The girl was treated for abrasions and scrapes at WakeMed in Cary and has been released.

Police said the driver of the car is not being charged since the girl was not in a designated crossing area.
