The driver who topped 187 mph through a work zone on Interstate 95 during a police chase on Sunday has been charged with trafficking heroin. 

<b>FOUR OAKS, N.C.</b> — A driver who sped 187 mph <a href="https://www.wral.com/story/man-speeds-187-mph-through-work-zone-on-i-95-during-police-chase-crashes-car/19273076/">through a work zone on Interstate 95 during a police chase on Sunday has been charged with trafficking opium or heroin.</a>

Ayaz Naeem Ansari, 39, from Rosedale, Maryland has been charged with two traffic violations, three drug misdemeanors and three felony drug trafficking charges.

He was also charged with felony fleeing to eluding arrest with a motor vehicle.

A motorcyclist was traveling 187 mph in a work zone on Interstate 95 on Sunday morning, according to officials. He attempted to exit the interstate near Four Oaks, while traveling at 100 mph, officials said.

A man was driving his car more than 180mph in a work zone in Johnston County. He has been arrested, according to officials. 

Ansari has his first court appearance set for Tuesday.

He was being held at the Johnston County jail under a $125,000 bond.
