Clayton, N.C. — A driver ran their car into a BP gas station at the corner of Barber Mill Road and N.C. Highway 42 West in Clayton on Saturday morning.
Seconds before the car crashed into the store, the gas station's cashier had stepped away from the area where the car rammed into the building, according to officials.
No one was injured during the accident, but the building was damaged and remains closed as a result of the crash.
The accident is still being investigated by the Clayton Police Department.
