CLAYTON, N.C. — A driver was killed Tuesday night when they lost control of their car and hit a concrete median, according to troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on N.C. Highway 42 near Motorcycle Road in Johnston County. Troopers said the driver was ejected after hitting an embankment, causing the vehicle to flip multiple times.

One lane was closed for a couple of hours while crews investigated the crash. The road has since reopened.

Troopers were withholding the identity of the person who died until the next of kin was notified.
