Driver Killed in Nash Accident

— Authorities in Nash County are investigating a fatal accident.

The accident happened shortly after 2:30 a.m. Thursday on York Chapel Road.

Troopers with the Highway Patrol said Joseph Christopher Bottoms, 23, of Rocky Mount, was driving a convertible when the car crossed the center line. It later hit a ditch and overturned, killing Bottoms.

Investigators said speed was a factor. Alcohol may have also been a factor.
