Driver hospitalized after car crashes down embankment on I-40 near Garner
A driver was taken to the hospital overnight after their SUV crashed and fell down an embankment off Interstate 40.

GARNER, N.C. — A driver was taken to the hospital overnight after their SUV crashed and fell down an embankment off Interstate 40.
The crash occurred before 3 a.m. right at Exit 309 for U.S. Highway 70 near Garner. Officials said the SUV went off the roadway, took out a guardrail and went down the steep hill.
Only one car was involved. The cause of the crash was unknown.
Crews were working at the scene at 5 a.m., but only the shoulder in the westbound lanes was closed.
