RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police said that one westbound lane of Glenwood Avenue was closed after a hit-and-run wreck early Thursday.

Police said that a driver ran off the road and hit a fence and a utility pole in front of an ice cream store at Glenwood and Whitaker Mill Road around 2:15 a.m. The driver fled but was arrested about two miles away, north along Glenwood.

The utility pole was left hanging from its wires. The ice cream store was not damaged.

The lane closure on Glenwood lasted while utility crews made repairs.
