RALEIGH, N.C. — A Louisburg man was indicted Tuesday on an involuntary manslaughter charge in connection with a fatal crash in north Raleigh.
Samuel James Beadle, 21, was driving on Wakefield Plantation Drive at 80 mph in a 35-mph zone on April 22 when his car left the road near Towngate Drive and struck a tree, police said. The car then spun and struck a fire hydrant before rolling over onto its roof.
Passenger Zachery Marten Riggle, 20, of Franklinton, was killed in the crash, and Beadle was seriously injured.
Beadle, of 2115 U.S. 401 South, was initially charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, reckless driving and driving while impaired. A Wake County grand jury indicted him on the DWI and reckless driving charges in addition to involuntary manslaughter.
