KENLY, N.C. — A ramp that was shutdown on I-95 northbound Wednesday morning after a tractor trailer overturned was still closed at noon.

The off-ramp is closed at Exit 107 for US-301 in Kenly after an early morning crash. Although the truck was removed from the scene, officials said damage to a guardrail would keep the ramp closed through noon.

Troopers say the large truck skidded along the guardrail for 200 yards before tipping over an embankment. The driver was not injured, and no other cars were involved.

Yigoub Elsheikh, from Florida, was the driver. He told WRAL News he was able to push his way out of the truck.

“It’s not easy to do it. I’m pushing, I’m pushing the door. It’s stuck and everything but thanks to God, I got out," he said.

Elsheikh said he lost control of the truck's automated steering. Troopers have issued him a ticket for failing to maintain lane control.

As a detour, drivers can continue on I-95 and take Exit 116 for NC-42 instead. Then, turn left to access I-95 south and continue on I-95 south to reach US-301.
