RALEIGH, N.C. — One person died in a car crash on Saturday on Western Boulevard in Raleigh at around 8 a.m.

The driver has been identified as Stephanie Kelly, of Raleigh.

Raleigh police said Kelly's car ran off the road and hit a tree. She was the only person in her car and only one car was involved in the crash.

She appeared to have gone straight when the road curved to the left.

For about five hours Saturday morning, eastbound lanes of Western Boulevard were shut down at South Boylan Avenue. The car was stuck in a small embankment and not blocking the roadway. Several officers were on scene directing traffic around the blocked lanes.

The crash remains under investigation.
