FOUR OAKS, N.C. — More than 500 Duke Energy customers were without power Wednesday morning in Johnston County after a driver crashed into a power pole.

The crash happened on N.C. Highway 210 near Lassiter Road, to the west of Smithfield. Troopers said the driver drove off the road and hit the pole, which brought down the power lines.

The driver and a passenger were not injured.

Troopers said alcohol and speed were involved in the crash, and the driver, who was not identified, was arrested.
