Driver charged with DWI after woman killed in hit-and-run crash in Raleigh
A driver was arrested Thursday hours after a deadly hit-and-run crash south of downtown Raleigh.
Posted — UpdatedThe crash was reported around 12 a.m. on South Saunders Street at South Wilmington Street. Investigators said a woman was walking on the side of the road when she was struck by a car, and the driver fled the scene.
The woman died.
Police arrested James Douglas Virgin, 32, who was charged with driving while impaired, felony hit and run and failure to maintain lane control.
