NASHVILLE, N.C. — An 18-year-old passenger was killed and a 21-year-old driver was charged Saturday in a Nash County crash.
Troopers with the State Highway Patrol said the Acura lost control while traveling on U.S. 64 near Nashville. The car went up an embankment, flipped and struck trees.
The driver, Victor Alvarez, was ejected, and the passenger, Anna Alonso-Palacios, was killed.
Officials say they were not wearing seatbelts.
Alvarez is recovering at a hospital and has been charged with reckless driving and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
