CLAYTON, N.C. — Officers have arrested a man for murder days after a woman died falling off of a moving SUV in Johnston County.

Johnston County Sheriff’s officers charged James Lewis Christavian Johnson III, 23, of Clayton, with felony hit and run, serious injury or death, and 2nd degree murder without regard in the death of Tebria Janee Frazier.

Officers say Johnson was driving the SUV while Frazier was clinging to the roof before eventually falling off.

The call came just before 2:30 p.m. as fire trucks and sheriff's deputies converged on the scene in the 300 block of Vinson Road.

Officials say Johnson surrendered himself without incident in Smithfield. The SUV was located at 301 S English St. in Greensboro.

The incident is believed to be domestic in nature. Johnson and Frazier share a small child in common.

Johnson was held under a $500,000.00 secured bond. The investigation remains ongoing.
