RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh-based bar Dram & Draught is planning to expand to two new locations.
"We're waiting to open Dram and Draught Durham, which most likely will happen this summer," co-owner Kevin Barrett said on this week's WRAL Out and About Podcast.

The Durham location will be in the Chesterfield building in downtown.

"If it weren't for the pandemic, (that bar) would have opened probably 10 to 12 months ago, late spring or early summer last year," Barrett said. "But as we completed construction, we weren't allowed to open. After talking with our other investors and our landlord, we decided to just push it as far past all of this as we can."

Barrett said the goal is open the Durham location when restrictions lift on indoor dining capacity.

The first Dram & Draught opened on Hillsborough Street in July 2016. It was located in an old gas station and auto shop for three years before moving to its permanent home on Glenwood Avenue. A Greensboro location also opened during that time - also in an old gas station.

Dram & Draught boasts more than 400 whiskeys from around the world.

"We have crafted cocktails that we take a lot of pride in. We have a well curated, draft beer list...a small but interesting wine selection," Barrett said. "But above all of that, we're just trying to be a good neighborhood bar."

Dram & Draught is also planning to open a location next year in the Fenton development in Cary. That location, which will feature a rooftop bar, will be in the same development as chef Scott Crawford’s Crawford Brothers Steakhouse and chef Michael Lee’s M Sushi.
