DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham Performing Arts Center continues its dominance as a performing arts venue.
Independent trade publication Pollstar has ranked its Top 200 Theatres in the Country for the 2021-2022 season. DPAC is listed as number two for its ticket sales and number five for its gross sales among theaters across the country.

This puts DPAC among the top venues in the country, including Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Atlanta’s Fox Theatre and the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn.

Following a shorter 2020-2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the venue launched its "Comeback Season" with English pop group Squeeze on Aug. 2, 2021.

The 2021-2022 season featured 204 performances and attracted 453,945 guests to the venue. In addition, DPAC hosted its 5 millionth guest since opening in 2008.

“We love live shows. And we’re proud of being able to bring live entertainment back into people’s lives here in North Carolina. There’s a magic and energy that happens when people come together and we’re thankful to all the fans of Broadway, concerts, comedy, and our special events that were part of this season," DPAC General Manager Bob Klaus said.

Highlights of the 2021-2022 season included the return of Hamilton, which played 24 sold out shows, and three sold-out shows from comedian Chris Rock.

The last performance of the season was singer-songwriter Amos Lee over the weekend.

DPAC has been operated by Nederlander and Professional Facilities Management since it opened in 2008. It has been ranked among the top-ten theaters in America every year since 2010.
