DPAC ranked among top in nation for attendance

The Durham Performing Arts Center finished out 2013 as the fourth most-attended concert venue in the nation, according to a report by Pollstar.

DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham Performing Arts Center finished out 2013 as the fourth most-attended concert venue in the nation, according to a report by Pollstar.
The venue improved upon its No. 5 ranking in 2012 by attracting 352,000 guests during 174 performances last year, 57 of which were sellouts.

“In 2013, Triangle audiences again helped us set new records. Our focus always starts with great shows, and every year, DPAC has one of the best Broadway, concert and comedy line-ups of any theater in America,” said Bob Klaus, general manager at DPAC.

The top acts at DPAC in 2013 included "How the Grinch Stole Christmas! - The Musical," Disney’s "Mary Poppins," Alabama, Celtic Woman, Jerry Seinfeld and Ron White.

DPAC is continuing to provide a variety of shows that appeal to many audiences, with some fantastic acts already lined up for 2014. Take a look at some of the highlights below:

  • Jan. 11: Patti LaBelle
  • Jan. 21-26: "Once" National Tour
  • Friday, Jan. 31: The Pixies
  • Feb. 1-2: Tyler Perry's "Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned"
  • Feb. 11-23: "The Book of Mormon"
  • Feb. 27: Alton Brown
  • March 8: Celtic Woman
  • March 9: 2nd Annual Bull City Food and Beer Experience
