DPAC celebrates another record-breaking season

A record 536,710 guests attended 163 sold-out performances at the Durham Performing Arts Center for the theater's 2018/2019 season.

DURHAM, N.C. — A record 536,710 guests attended 163 sold-out performances at the Durham Performing Arts Center for the theater's twelfth season.

DPAC's most attended shows of the 2018/2019 season, in order of popularity, were Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, CATS, Miss Saigon and Anastasia. The season runs from July 1, 2018 to June 30.

According to officials, DPAC held a total of 240 concerts, comedy and theater events in that period, with an average of 2,249 guests attending each show. The theater seats 2,712.

The most popular concerts seen at DPAC between July 2018 and June 2019 were Widespread Panic, Joe Bonamassa, Mannheim Steamroller, Bob Dylan, Jill Scott, Chicago, Frankie Valli, Jackson Browne, Toni Braxton, RBRM, The Piano Guys, Styx, Celtic Woman, Joan Baez and Gary Clark Jr.

In a statement, Bob Klaus, DPAC's General Manager, said, “We want to be our guests favorite place for live entertainment. I am thankful for the incredible shows we get the chance to host and the many guests we have the honor to serve."

In January 2018, trade magazines Pollstar, Billboard and Venues Today ranked DPAC in the top five venues in the country. In October, DPAC was named the 2018 Theater of the Year by the International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA).
