RALEIGH, N.C.Calavera Empanadas and Tequila has found a new home on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh.
Calavera closed in February after more than six years in business. On Wednesday, owners announced plans to reopen in the current home of Tasty 8's at 121 Fayetteville St.

Tasty 8's confirmed the announcement via a Facebook post. The gourmet hot dog shop will officially closed at 3 p.m. Thursday.

"It is with a heartfelt thank you to all of our great customers over the years as I announce our closing. My dental business has grown to a point where I simply no longer have time to operate the restaurant," owner Brett Wells of Downtown Dental wrote.

"Our kitchen and it’s small size has kept us from really growing the menu and allowing us to change and add where we would like," co-owner Kenneth Yowell wrote in a Facebook post when the Calavera closed its location at 444 S. Blount St. "We’ve entertained the idea of looking for a location more suited to what we want to do for awhile but have never found anything that matched our needs and wants. We were out of the blue approached with an offer to sell, and while we weren’t actively exploring that, with our new restaurants on the horizon we felt this was the best time to step away."

The restaurant group also owns Oak City Meatball Shoppe, and the upcoming restaurant Kaiju Bowl and Bao. Kaiju is hoping to open soon.
Calavera opened in September 2011. In 2015, it was honored with an honorable mention for best late night dining in the WRAL.com Voters' Choice Awards.
