Two Raleigh intersections were closed Sunday morning after a downed tree and a crash brought down power lines and traffic signals.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two Raleigh intersections were closed Sunday morning after a downed tree and a crash brought down power lines and traffic signals.

Before 6:30 a.m., a large oak tree fell at the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Rembert Drive, close to Creedmoor Road.

The damage knocked out power for all stoplights.

The westbound lanes of Glenwood Avenue were still closed at 8 a.m. while crews restored power. The Raleigh Police Department was at the scene redirecting traffic.

The intersection reopened by 2 p.m.

SUV brings down traffic lights at New Bern Avenue

Earlier on Sunday, before 4 a.m., an SUV crashed into a power pole at New Bern Avenue and Trawick Road.

WRAL News counted that at least 18 signals fell onto the road. The intersection was expected to be closed for hours, and police were detouring traffic.
