Posted — UpdatedCHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Authorities blocked a section of East Franklin Street near UNC-Chapel Hill Friday morning after a large tree fell across the road.
Crews blocked the busy thoroughfare at Park Place, which is on the eastern edge of UNC's campus, at about 6 a.m. They reopened the intersection just after 3 p.m.
The downed tree damaged a utility pole along the road as well. Crews were working to cut the tree up and repair the pole Friday morning, but it was unclear when the road would reopen.
