RALEIGH, N.C. — Thousands of people are still without power across our area – and in very cold temperatures to potentially be without heat.

Several hundred people woke up without power Monday morning in Raleigh, caused by several poles down on Lake Boone Trail near Glenwood Ave.

The lines, which were downed because of winter weather, are blocking the road.

Duke Power has been notified, but officials say the power may not be restored until around 3:30 p.m.

According to the outage maps, at least 400 customers are without power in that area, and more than 1,200 customers are in the dark across Wake County.

Nearly 14,000 customers are still waiting on power in Moore County – nearly a third of the county – and more than 15-hundred customers are without power in Hoke County.

A dramatic video captured by a WRAL viewer during Sunday's winter weather showed a tree branch falling into a power line and catching fire.

Duke Energy crews worked through the night to get electricity restored. Crews say gusty wind has complicated restoration efforts in our area.
