RALEIGH, N.C. — With just five days to go until Christmas, anyone looking to ship packages is running out of time. Several USPS deadlines have already passed. Wednesday marks the next one.

Anyone looking to send a letter or package and have it arrive at the intended destination by Christmas - the priority deadline is Dec. 20.

David Hicks visited a Raleigh post office and admitted he is a procrastinator. But when he walked in and found the place nearly empty, he was pleasantly surprised.

Jerry Blow echoed that sentiment.

"They told me not to say anything because I may jinx how quiet it is," he said.

The priority express Christmas deadline is Friday - but shipping costs start at $23.75.

USPS says they are expecting to deliver 3 billion pieces of mail just this week, making it the busiest week of the year.

Anyone looking to send something to Hawaii or Alaska should check the USPS website for more information on those specific deadlines.
