RICHMOND, VA. — Dominion Energy and its partners, including Duke Energy, have posted maps online to show the proposed route of a 550-mile natural gas pipeline  from Harrison County, W. Va., southeast through Virginia and then south through central North Carolina to Robeson County.
The route crosses parts of eight North Carolina counties and would run roughly parallel to Interstate 95.

The plan still requires the approval of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and construction would begin no sooner than 2017, according to Dominion documents.

Dominion has notified property owners within a 400-foot wide corridor of the proposed route to ask for permission to survey their land.
