Man arrested after domestic assault on NC State campus

Police at North Carolina State University are searching for a man accused of assaulting a woman on campus Sunday night.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police at North Carolina State University were searching for a man accused of assaulting a woman on campus Sunday night.

Around 10:30 p.m., police responded to the Patterson Hall parking lot, located off Hillsborough Street near the D.H. Hill Jr. Library, where a domestic assault was reported.

Police spent the night and early morning searching for the suspect, Montray J. McDuffie, 35, of Erwin, who fled the area and was last seen near at Hillsborough Street and Horne Street.

At 3:45 a.m., McDuffie was arrested on Wolf Freen Drive and charged with possession of a firearm by felon, assault by strangulation and carrying a gun on educational property.

According to officials, the victim was taken to a hospital for precautionary measures.

Police said a handgun was recovered at the scene but wasn't used.
