Destination: Go Bananaz
Go Bananaz in north Raleigh includes the usual inflatables and arcade games that you'll find at other indoor amusement centers in the area. But it's the fair-style rides that make it stand out.
Posted — UpdatedBut it's the fair-style rides that make it stand out. Go Bananaz has a mechanical bull, real bumper cars and a giant pirate ship that rocks back and forth.
Go Bananaz opened about a month ago near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Duraleigh Road. And the owners packed in about as much as they can into the space.
The details: Go Bananaz is open daily for walk-in customers and also offers party packages. The hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
There are a variety of ticket packages and rates ranging from $7.99 per child for unlimited play on the inflatables Monday through Thursday to $25 per person for unlimited play on the inflatables and rides Friday through Sunday. The fee for kids ages two and under is $5.
Packages also include play on the xbox Kinect or wii. The TVs were turned off when I was there just to protect the screens, manager David Hill told me when I visited, but they'll turn them on if you want to play.
There's no admission charge for parents. And Hill said parents are welcome to ride the pirate ship with their small children for free. And that might not be a bad idea depending on your kid. It does rock back and forth pretty quickly and goes pretty high.
