RED OAK, N.C. — A Nash County deputy was involved in a four-car crash on Interstate 95 early Friday morning that shut down all northbound lanes near the Dortches community.

WRAL News learned four vehicles were involved, including the deputy's car, a tractor trailer and two cars.

A wrong way driver caused the crash before 5 a.m. near Exit 141 for N.C. Highway 43 and Dortches Boulevard, officials said.

The road reopened by 7 a.m., but delays were still present in the area.

Officials said three people were taken to Nash UNC Health Care with minor injuries, including the deputy, the wrong-way driver and another motorist.

"Please keep our deputy and the two other vehicle operators in your thoughts and prayers," read a post on the Nash County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
