LUMBERTON, N.C. — Authorities have located a 5-year-old boy who had been kidnapped by his mother Friday afternoon.

Malicia Campbell reported that her grandson, Lintravious Jackson, had been kidnapped by his mother at about 4:45 p.m.

Authorities said an unidentified 16-year-old was believed to have picked the child up under false pretenses in Fairmont before meeting the child’s mother, Heather Ann Lewis, 26, of Charlotte.

The child had been previously removed from Lewis’ custody, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the boy was located and returned home to his grandmother at about 7:30 p.m.

An investigation is ongoing.
