If you're looking for a way to get all that Halloween candy out of the house, here's a good one. Local dentists and orthodontists will be buying back Halloween candy this week as part of a program to support deployed troops.

Participating offices will buy back Halloween candy with cash, coupons, toothbrushes and other exchanges. They will then send the candy to Operation Gratitude, an organization devoted to filling and shipping care packages to U.S. military and their families, or other military support groups.

Among the local offices participating in the program is Gladwell Orthodontics in Wake Forest. They emailed me to share that they will pay $1 per pound of candy brought into the office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday. Gladwell Orthodontics is at 2824 Rogers Rd., Suite 200, Wake Forest. The candy collected there will go to Operation Gratitude.

If you know the details on other local Halloween candy buy back programs, please post in the comments below.
