FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Senator Cory Booker gathered alongside Joe Biden supporters in front of an early voting site in Durham on Saturday.

He said our nation is divided and needs healing – and change starts at the polls.

Dozens gathered at the Durham Public Library for Booker’s appearance in the Tar Heel State, where he's visiting to campaign on behalf of Biden and Kamala Harris.

Booker said he believes North Carolina is one of the most important states in the presidential election, and he hopes his trip will help influence voters here.

"This is the swingiest of swing states, the most battleground-y or battleground states, and I hope NC comes on our and lets their voice be heard," he said.

During his stops in Fayetteville, Raleigh, and Durham, Booker spoke about the current administration causing division among the nation.

He’s convinced with the record number of early voters, the state has a chance of turning blue this year.

"So many people volunteering, organizing. There has not been a mobilization like this in the state of NC in many, many years," said Booker.

North Carolina is a key battleground state for both candidates. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and President Trump only have nine days left to vie for North Carolinians' vote.

The state is one of the most critical states in the Electoral College, which is why both candidates come to visit so often.

‘Trump Victory’ released a statement in regards to Booker’s visit, saying, "Cory Booker is just another failed 2020 presidential candidate, and in 10 days, Joe Biden will be too. Mid-tier surrogates can’t compete with Trump Victory’s massive ground game and frequent visits from President Trump.”

President Trump was in Lumberton on Saturday afternoon. Eric Trump, one of the president's sons, was in Raleigh on Friday to speak to evangelicals at RFA church. In Fayetteville and Cary, Trump supporters organized sizable parades with long lines of vehicles, waving flags and shouting, "Four more years!"
