NEW YORK — Why is the fried chicken sandwich crossing the East River? For Daniel Delaney’s bird, it’s to find a home at the DeKalb Market Hall in Downtown Brooklyn.

The new stand, which will open by Sept. 15, relocating the one that Delaney had at Urbanspace near Grand Central Terminal, will offer dark meat fried-chicken sandwiches, original or spicy, on plain hamburger buns. A club version will come with bacon, lettuce and tomato, and a sandwich called a Ranchwich will have Cheddar, bacon and ranch mayonnaise. Fries, chips and coleslaw will be available to accompany, along with iced tea and lemonade.
