RALEIGH, N.C. — Friday will be the second Final Four appearance for the NC State women's basketball team.

They were last in the Final Four in 1998 with the late, legendary head coach Kay Yow.

That was 26 years ago.

The Final Four was in Kansas City and WRAL anchor Debra Morgan was there to cover the Wolfpack women and their historic run.

A look into the WRAL vault to show you how it was way back then, especially how the fans interacted with the players!

Chasity Melvin went on to play 12 years in the WNBA. She was a first-round draft pick.

In the NCAA Tournament, State defeated Maine, Youngstown State, Old Dominion and UConn to reach the Final Four.

State ultimately lost to Louisiana Tech, 84-65, in the semifinal.

Yow died in 2009 after a very public battle with breast cancer. She's looking down on this team now and wishing them well.

Current NC State coach Wes Moore coached with Yow.
