Posted July 5, 2020 8:02 p.m. EDT

A fatal accident happened on I-40 W on Sunday afternoon, when isolated severe storms passed over the Triangle.

Raleigh police said a motorcyclist had parked beneath an overpass to stay dry when another vehicle lost control in the wet conditions and hit him.

All lanes of I-40 W were closed at exit 298 after the deadly crash.

No information has been released on the status of the driver who hit the motorcyclist.

This the second motorcycle crash that's lead to a road closure in the past 24 hours. On Saturday night, a motorcyclist crashed in Holly Springs and was reportedly transported on a trauma code to the hospital.
