DURHAM, N.C. — With just days left until baseball returns to Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the Bulls showed off of the more intriguing choices on the menu on Wednesday.

While hot dogs and popcorn are just fine for many fans, the Bulls have some more refined offerings to excite the foodies. There's room to experiment as baseball food isn't supposed to be perfect, said Derek Crayton, hospitality executive chef at the DBAP.

"It's fun and a little messy," said Crayton. "We just like to have fun with it, we're at the ballpark."

For WRAL News anchor Ken Smith, everything passed his taste test. Some of the featured items were:

  • Spicy-battered cauliflower (found at wing stand and Ken's favorite)
  • Loaded sweet potato tater tots (found at right-field BBQ stand)
  • Green chile chicken taquitos
  • The 'Cue dog (a fan favorite found at BBQ stands)
  • The pig kahuna (a teriyaki sausage with a pineapple-cilantro coleslaw and boom-boom sauce)
  • Mini-churros

The Bulls' opening night at DBAP is April 12 against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
