Raleigh, N.C. — Several lanes of Interstate 40 East between Wade Avenue and Harrison Avenue were shut down because of a crash on Thursday night.
A deputy with the Wake County Sheriff's Office said that a Davidson County sheriff's deputy's car was involved in the crash. Raleigh police officers said the deputy was rear-ended in the crash.
The bumper to the deputy's car was damaged, and video from the scene showed other damage. The car that hit the deputy's vehicle suffered significant damage to its front.
Raleigh police said the deputy was transporting a suspect back to Davidson County and slowed down for an unknown reason. That's when the other car plowed into it.
The scene was cleared by 5 a.m. Friday.
