The first day of spring will be here soon and Dairy Queen is celebrating the seasonal change in the best way possible — giving out free ice cream!
On March 19, participating non-mall DQ and DQ Grill & Chill locations throughout the U.S. will be handing out free small vanilla cones. A DQ spokesperson tells DWYM there is a limit of one per customer, while supplies last.
On Free Cone Day, select DQ locations will also be participating in Dip It For Kids, which means fans can opt to dip their free soft serve cone with a flavorful, crunchy coating for $1,  That includes having your cone dipped in DQ’s new cotton candy-flavored coating! Proceeds support local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Dairy Queen
This marks the sixth year for Dairy Queen’s Free Cone Day; the company says they were able to donate nearly $300,000 from the day in 2017. As of 2018, Dairy Queen has raised more than $130 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in local communities.
“We love that our tradition of Free Cone Day has become synonymous with return of warmer weather and bringing people together,” Maria Hokanson, executive vice president of marketing at ADQ, said in a 2019 press release. “We know the start of soft-serve season brings joy to our fans, and we can’t wait to help spread smiles.”

If you won’t be able to make it to Dairy Queen on March 19, you can also get a pretty good deal if you go now through March 15 instead.

To celebrate their 80th birthday, DQ is handing out Blizzards for just 80 cents with the purchase of another at full price. The deal includes any of their 15 Blizzard flavors and all sizes, including their March Blizzard of the Month, mint Oreo.
Featuring a bright green mint color with Oreo pieces and creme de menthe, this treat is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day (which is March 17, right in between each of these deals) or just to celebrate the start of spring.

Will you be going to your local Dairy Queen on March 19 for your free cone and to give a donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals?
