Cyclist Dies After Highway Collision

A bicyclist died Friday after an early morning wreck in Harnett County, authorities said.

LILLINGTON, N.C. — A bicyclist died Friday after an early morning wreck in Harnett County, authorities said.

Jeremy Lee Jordan, 19, was southbound on N.C. Highway 87 at about 3:30 a.m. and failed to yield to a car headed southbound on N.C. Highway 24 where the two roads merge, authorities said. Jordan turned into the vehicle and was thrown from his bike in the collision, authorities said.

Her was taken to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, where he died Friday morning, authorities said.

The case remains under investigation, but no charges are planned, authorities said.
