Cyber Monday 2017: Deals & Tips

Cyber Week has already started and online retailers are rolling out impressive deals already!

Here are some tips to save you even more money and make sure you stay safe while saving big.

The official Cyber Monday event takes place this year on Monday, November 27, 2017, but many retailers are kicking off Cyber Week events as early as Saturday, 11/25 and they are lasting through the week!

1. Create (and stick to) your gift list AND your budget. Discipline is key.

2. Do your homework regarding pricing, shipping fees and returns. Double check other online retailers for similar products and use price comparison sites like PriceGrabber.com.

3. Start early: Many Cyber Monday sales start Saturday (like Kohl’s and Amazon).

4. Use store apps and store social media as well as coupon code sites (like RetailMeNot.com) to get coupons.

5. Price Match if possible. BUT multiple stores suspend price–matching from Black Friday to Cyber Monday including Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Best Buy, Office Depot/Office Max & Sears. After Cyber Monday, most stores with price-matching polices will go back to allowing price-matching.

7. Remember: Cheapest is not always best. This comes back to doing your homework. Make sure you look at customer reviews and review sites to see if that super cheap TV is going to last more than a month.

8. Use a credit card that offers rewards (only if you pay it off every month and pay no interest charges).

9. Shop on a secure website with a valid encryption certificate.

10. Make sure your computer’s security software is up to date.

11. Use strong passwords for online retail accounts.

12. If shopping from a mobile device, only download apps from official app marketplaces like Google Play or the Apple store.
