Cumberland urges unincorporated residents to report Florence debris by Nov. 18
Residents who live in the unincorporated areas of Cumberland County must have Hurricane Florence-related debris placed on the public right-of-way and reported by Nov. 18, county officials say.

To report debris, residents can call the Cumberland County Debris Reporting phone system at 910-438-4044 and leave their name, address, phone number and the type of debris.
According to a written statement from the county, 85 percent of the debris that has been reported in the unincorporated areas of Cumberland County has been collected.
The public right-of-way is the area of residential property that extends from the street to the sidewalk, ditch, utility pole or easement. Residents are urged to separate the debris as follows:
Only loose debris will be collected, county officials said. Bagged debris should not be placed on the public right-of-way.
Do not place debris near a water meter vault, fire hydrant, underneath a power line or any other above-ground utility. Only debris placed on the public right-of-way will be eligible for collection. The attached flyer provides residents with a visual overview of the proper method to set debris on the right-of-way.
Debris will only be picked up from public roads.
