MARVIN GAYE, MARVIN CONLEY, THE SUPERINTENDENT HERE, HE WARNED STATE LAWMAKERS 3 YEARS AGO THAT IF THEY RAISE THE BASE SALARY FOR THE INCOMING BUS DRIVERS AND DIDN'T RAISE IT FOR BUS DRIVERS, YOU'VE BEEN ON THE JOB FOR SOME TIME THAT THIS WOULD BE THE RESULT. THE ISSUE DATES BACK 3 YEARS AGO. THAT'S WHEN STATE LAWMAKERS ORDERED THE SALARY FOR NEWLY-HIRED BUS DRIVERS TO BE SET AT $15 AN HOUR. IT USED TO BE $13. THE DRIVERS WHO CALLED IN SICK THIS MORNING SAY THAT'S NOT RIGHT. >> YOU HAVE DRIVERS THAT HAVE BEEN THERE. I WOULD SAY MAYBE 19 YEARS OR MORE MAKING A DOLLAR MORE THAN THE NEW EYE. AND WE JUST DON'T THINK ITS A R. >> ERICA TAYLOR HAS A SON WITH SPECIAL NEEDS WHO USED TO ATTEND SOUTH VIEW HIGH SCHOOL. SHE SAYS CHANGING THE ROUTINE FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN CAN BE EMOTIONALLY TRAUMATIZING. THAT SUDDEN CHANGE. >> WOULD HAVE AFFECTED HIM. MOM. YOU KNOW, JUST EMOTIONALLY JUST GETTING THE SCHOOL AND THAT MAYBE HE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE SCHOOL LATE THAT DAY. SO THAT WOULD CHANGE TO, YOU KNOW, TO TELL OF HIS DAY. >> THE DRIVERS SAY THEY'RE NOT TRYING TO HURT THE CHILDREN, BUT THEY FEEL THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN DRAW ATTENTION TO THEIR DILEMMA. WE LOVE THE STUDENTS. BUT, YOU KNOW, BY DOING THIS, THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THAT WE WANT TO BE HEARD AND I WILL CONSIDER IT BECOME BALLOT. >> SUPERINTENDENT DOCTOR MARVIN CONLEY SAYS IT'S A PROBLEM CALLED SALARY COMPRESSION. AND IT'S NOT ONLY HAPPENING. THE BUS DRIVERS. HE KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BECOME A PROBLEM WHEN THE STATE ORDERED THE BUS DRIVERS BASE SALARY TO BE CHANGED. NOW HE SAYS THE STATE IS LEAVING IT UP TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES TO CORRECT THE DISCREPANCY. AND CUMBERLAND COUNTY JUST DOESN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT. WHEN I GET MAD AND CANYON PETITION, THEY. >> TO ADDRESS I THINK THE ISSUE SNOW, WHITE, AH, AND NOT UP. AND THE LOCAL CAN TO SOLVE IT. AND THEN THE ISSUE. >> NOW, THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY DELEGATION OF LAWMAKERS ARE GOING TO BE MADE MEETING WITH THE BOARD OF EDUCATION HERE IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY ON FRIDAY. THAT WAS A MEETING THAT WAS ALREADY PLANNED BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. I ASKED DOCTOR THEY'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT THIS COMPRESSION ISSUE WITH THE SALARIES AND GERALD, HE SAYS IT'S NOT ON THE AGENDA, BUT WHAT AFTER AFTER WHAT'S HAPPENED TODAY, THEY MAY DO A LITTLE TALKING ABOUT IT.

<p>Hi, everyone. Meteorologist Anthony Baglione here on this Friday where we're still looking at some relatively warm temperatures into this afternoon. 83 is where we should hit for a high temperature. Nice and quiet for us until we get later on into late this afternoon into this evening where we're gonna watch the potential for some showers and storms coming through. Not a ton of activity for us as we head later on into tonight. There's a look at rain chances though. They go up to about 50% as we head into that evening time frame. So if you have any plans tonight, if you want to go out and get a Friday evening dinner or something like that, it might be a good idea to a, get the indoor table and then b bring along the reindeer just in case tonight. Here's a look at Future cast. So we time this out looking pretty quiet here the next couple of hours that band back to our west, it should start to weaken as it gets closer to us. It may try and restrengthen them as we get into. Like there's four o'clock you can see on Futurecast 56 o'clock or so, some of those storms could be on the stronger side and then it pushes out of here as we get later on into tonight and then we see maybe a stray shower potential still outline for tomorrow morning. Here's a look at our severe potential today. Level one out of five for most of the viewing area. What this is saying is there could be some isolated pockets where we get some stronger storms. It looks like the best chances for that would be west of us. But gusty winds would be our primary threat as we get into this evening. 78 is where we go for our Saturday. A huge temperature swing there into Sunday at 59 scattered showers are gonna be likely though, especially Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening, they do start to taper off though late Sunday night. So for the Tar Heel 10 miler, that's tomorrow morning, we are proud partners of that. We're going to see temperatures in the sixties for the majority of the forecast there. A stray showers possible, but most of the morning is looking just fine for that event. Tomorrow. We head over the next seven. We go from 83 today all the way down to 59 on Sunday. A rebound of 66 on Monday and then a nice week next week attempts in the seventies, even a few upper sixties there Thursday looking pretty quiet after we get some rainfall there to close out our weekend.</p>
