FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 26-year-old horse with special medical needs was stolen from his pasture in Cumberland County on Friday.

The Tennessee Walking Horse named Pride was being nursed back to health when someone took him.

The property where the horse was staying on is for sale, and the owner thinks someone may have thought Pride was abandoned.

Pride was taken off a woman's property in Cumberland County. She's desperate to find him because he has special medical needs.

"He was my baby. He was my first horse," said his owner Carol Wiltcher. "I just want him to be home. I gotta know where he's at. I took good care of him."

Logan Geddie, a real estate agent for the property, said that she did receive a call about the horse, asking if it was abandoned.

Wiltcher claims the horse would not be strong enough to leave on its own. Pride is on a diet of only mashed food.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and animal control are looking into the crime. The owner is offering a $1,000 reward if someone could return the lost horse.
